Nick Kyrgios has described doping allegations against Yannick Siner and Iga Sviatek as “disgusting” for tennis.
The men’s world No. 1 offender tested positive twice for an anabolic steroid in March but avoided a ban after the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) found him not guilty.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has appealed the decision and Sinner still faces a potential suspension.
Swiatek, now the women’s world No. 2, accepted a one-month suspension in November after testing positive for the banned substance trimetazidine.
The Pole was ranked No. 1 in the world when she tested positive for the angina drug trimetazidine in an out-of-competition test on Aug. 12.
He says he does not expect an appeal from WADA.
“The two No. 1 players in the world, both of them going under for doping, is disgusting for our sport. It’s a terrible look,” Kyrgios said.
“The integrity of tennis right now, and everybody knows it, but nobody wants to talk about it, it’s scary.”
Like the Guilty, Sviatek’s brief ban was only made public after the outcome of the case, with the 23-year-old citing personal problems and a change of coach for his absence from three tournaments.
This has led to more accusations of a two-tier system with star names being given preferential treatment, something which is strongly denied by the ITIA and tennis authorities.
Sky Sports contacted the International Tennis Integrity Agency, which declined to comment.
