Nelly went on to say during the interview. “He’s the president, he won, that’s why I’m not telling you who to vote for, he’s the president of the United States, not the candidate of the United States.”
He continued … “I respect the office. It doesn’t matter who’s in office. If they can put their lives on the line, I can definitely stand up for whoever is in office.”
Many accused the rapper of simply paying for the gig, which Nelly quickly denied: “I’m not doing this for the money, I’m doing this because it’s an honor… That’s what it’s all about.”
