Kenny LoweThe man best known for starring in Discovery’s ‘Moonshiners’ has died… TMZ has learned.
Kenny’s cousin Henry Lowe tells TMZ … The third-generation Virginia-based distiller died Tuesday at a local hospital after battling a number of health issues over the past few years.
As Henry says… Kenny has been dealing with heart problems for a while and had a heart attack back in 2024. He also battled diabetes which was a constant factor in his health struggles.
Henry says it was a combination of these issues, along with a blood infection, that led to Kenny’s hospitalization last month … and subsequent death this week.
According to Henry, Kenny’s body simply wore out after battling both the infection and his underlying conditions.
We’re told Kenny’s family was with him when he died.
The family is having a viewing this Friday, according to Kenny’s cousin … and his funeral will be held at the cemetery the next day.
Discovery Channel fans will know Kenny best from his recurring presence on “Moonshiners,” which premiered in 2011 and followed the locals of Appalachia as they preserve the region’s 200-year-old illegal tradition of distilling alcohol.The show ran for 14 season.
Kenny and Henry also operated Law’s Choice Distillery in Franklin County, Virginia, where they continued to have relatives. Amos’s Law‘s “infamous” lunar heritage.
“Moonshiners” star Amanda Bryant Tributes have paid tribute to Kenny amid news of his death, remembering him as a “real legend of the moon”.
He added … “It was an honor to know you and call you my friend. Rest in peace Big Boy. They are all very good friends of mine and my heart is breaking for each one of them.”
Kenny was 68 years old.
