Luigi MangioneHundreds of people are donating to his defense fund … and a committee spokesman explains why they’re trying to help him pay his legal fees.
Jamie Peck – Dec. 4 Judiciary Committee member – tells TMZ … Part of the reason Mangione created the fund is because of their belief that everyone deserves a fair trial, even those accused of terrorism.

While Peck makes it clear that he doesn’t condone violence, he hopes the case will get people talking about America’s broken health care system.
Jamie adds that historic change comes from the bottom up, not the top down… and encourages grassroots action to drive lasting change in healthcare.
The December 4th Legal Commission is made up of 20 volunteers who believe in the right to legal representation and taking a stand against systemic injustice…and they started the foundation before the suspect was named.
While they have not been able to reach Mangione, his team or his family, they say they are committed to his defense and hope for success.
Obviously the money they raised, about $183k as of this writing, is for Mangione…but if he turns it down, they plan to give it to other people facing political charges. They don’t have anyone in mind they hope Mangione will take the money.
As you know, … Mangione is facing multiple charges federal and state levels, including murder charges, for CEO murder Brian Thompson. He appeared in federal court last week and is now locked up at MDC Brooklyn.
Although Mangione comes from a wealthy family, it’s not clear who is paying his legal fees, as you know he’s enlisted the services of a big-time lawyer. Karen Friedman Agnifilo.
But if he needs money, it seems the December 4th Legal Commission is ready to answer the call.
