Lauren Price defended her first world title in style by defending Bexy Matheus three times en route to a devastating third-round victory in Liverpool on Saturday.
The ruthless Price displayed not only his slick boxing skills, which have been no secret until now, but vicious power as he dominated his Colombian opponent to move to 8-0 as a professional.
Price returned to the ring for the first time since defeating Jessica McCaskill to win her first world title in Cardiff in May.
If it was his first crowning moment, this was his first championship performance as he again proved himself at a high level in the final leg of the Olympic gold medalist’s fast-paced journey to greatness.
“With speed comes power, I enjoyed myself out there, I wanted to make a bit of a statement, I want big fights next year,” Price said.
“Thanks to my opponent, I knew he had a good record. I’ve had a great camp and I’m over the moon.
“I think it’s fight by fight, I’m still learning and developing, there’s still a lot to come, but I’ve got a great team behind me and you saw tonight I’m not all about speed, I can hit as well. .
“This is my eighth pro fight tonight, I’m still learning, but believe me I’m the best at 147. I want the main event winner tonight, I have more belts that I want to collect, I want to bring it big time boxing. back to wales”.
Price wasted no time in making an early breakthrough as he caught Mathews with a beautifully timed left hook to send his partner to the canvas.
Mateusz, who looked like a willing seller of shots early on while even landing his left hook, bravely stood up as he survived the opening round.
Price launched another attack on Mateus with another grappling hook, the Colombian’s legs never recovering from the impact as he then sent him viciously with a right hand that landed to end it all.
Next up could be a heated clash with Natasha Jonas in 2025, which has been the talk of the week in Liverpool.
“I respect Tasha, it will be a great British fight. When I became the Olympic champion, I wanted to be in a massive fight, and it’s a hell of a fight, not just for women, but for boxing in general.”

The answer would be emphatic two rounds later, a beautiful right hand rocking McKenna as the Irishman found himself on his knees for the second time.
The momentum had shifted back to Cutler, and he felt it, landing a right hook as McKenna threw wild swing after wild swing in an attempt to get himself back into the contest.
