Taylor Lorenz – previously a controversial Washington Post reporter shared a photo of the CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield with the CEO of UnitedHealthcare on the same day. Brian Thompson was killed.
Here’s the deal… Lorenz has posted to Bluesky and X several times since the shooting and killing of a gunman on a New York street early Wednesday when Blue Cross Blue Shield announced it would not cover anesthesia for some surgeries the whole.
TL shared the story on social media … along with a picture Kim A. Keck — Executive Director of BCBS since 2021.
While not a specific threat, many online are taking it that way … the picture is supposedly calling for someone to fire Keck as well.
Despite claiming that he was actually advocating “peaceful letter writing campaigns,” Lorenz’s subsequent posts did little to convince people that he was not pushing for more violence. “And people wonder why we want these leaders dead.”
He also shared other threatening posts, including “hypothetically” asking if sending CEOs “you’re next” emails could be considered an actionable threat.
Of course, Taylor isn’t alone in his sentiments … many online are applauding the shooter for taking down the wealthy CEO, including more than 30,000 people who posted laughing emojis to UnitedHealthcare’s memorial to Thompson.
We’ve told you all about Thompson’s murder…he was shot shortly before 7 A.M All were caught on dramatic surveillance video outside the hotel where his company was holding a conference in Midtown Manhattan yesterday. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
We’ve reached out to Taylor and Blue Cross Blue Shield about his comments…no word back yet.
