Jonathan Haggerty will make his world title return live on February 20th Sky Sports.
The British star will defend his ONE Championship kickboxing crown against Wei Ru at the Lusail Sports Arena in Qatar.
An outstanding combat sports striker, Haggerty made a name for himself by becoming the king of two sports in ONE championship, winning the Muay Thai belt as well as his kickboxing title.
After winning a thrilling fight with Felipe Lobo to start the year, Hagerty faced pound-for-pound superstar Superlek Kiatmu9 in a Muay Thai title defense in September.Superlek stopped Hagerty with a flashy elbow.
But now the Brit begins his comeback, returning to high-level competition against an elite kickboxer in Wei ‘Demon Blade’ Rui.
The Chinese fighter was a decorated K-1 athlete who entered ONE this year on a 20-fight winning streak.
He defeated former world champion Hiroki Akimoto to get his shot at Haggerty’s title.
Haggerty has held the kickboxing title since he knocked out Fabricio Andrade in 2023. A win over Rui would keep him in high-level competition as a natural challenger to Scotland’s Nico Carrillo.
Carrillo is the top Muay Thai contender to challenge Superlek next. live on Sky Sports on January 24.
