Observing astronomers hate the moon. That may come as a surprise to some of you; after all, the moon is beautiful, the closest astronomical object we can observe, and the most prominent feature of the night sky. But that focus itself is the problem: when the moon is out, its glow can obscure almost everything else. When you’re looking for small details or deep-sky objects, that’s a problem.
