Tyrell Hutton won the 2025 Dubai Desert Classic after Rory McIlroy finished fourth in a dramatic final day on Sunday.
Hutton, who is likely to be part of Team Europe’s Ryder Cup squad later this year, continued his strong performance from last week’s Team Cup to win his first Rolex Series title since 2021.
The 33-year-old overturned a one-stroke deficit to overnight leader Daniel Hiller to win by one shot at 15 under in a thrilling finish to the tournament.
“It’s amazing. I said earlier in the week it’s one of those events you want to have on your CV. It’s such an iconic event on the DP World Tour,” Hutton said.
“To add my name to the list of amazing champions before me, to add my name is a dream come true.”
McIlroy was unable to repeat his heroics of last year, winning 10 shots behind as he settled for joint fourth behind Hutton, Hillier and Laurie Canter.
Finishing 2024 strong and winning the Dubai Desert Classic title a record four times, including the last two years, McIlroy’s unimpressive opening cost the two days dear.
His six-under 66 on Sunday was three strokes better than his next-best round this week and was enough to move from 12th to fourth.
