Kamala Harris he distanced himself from the president on Wednesday Joe Biden and beat his Republican opponent for the presidency Donald Trump In a heated interview with Fox News anchor Brett Baier.
“Let me be very clear, my presidency is not going to be a continuation of Joe Biden’s presidency,” Harris said on the conservative news network after Baier asked if the vice president would do anything other than headline.
“And like every new president who comes into office, I will bring my life experiences, my professional experiences and fresh, new ideas,” the Democratic nominee said.
The 26-minute interview focused on immigration, with Harris again accusing Trump of killing a bipartisan bill to address the crisis on the southern border.
The conversation was tense from the first exchange, with Baier repeatedly interrupting Harris’ initial response on immigration. “You’ve got to let me finish please…I’m in the middle of answering the point you’re making, and I’d like to finish,” Harris initially said.
Here are the most memorable moments
- Do undocumented immigrants owe an apology to the families of the three women who died:
“I think we’ve had a broken immigration system, by the way, going through the Donald Trump administration, before. Let’s all be honest about it. I’m not proud to say the immigration system is perfect. I’ve been. I clearly think we all need to be fixed.” .
- In a new Trump ad, taxpayer dollars are being used for gender reassignment
“I think (Trump) spent $20 million on those ads trying to instill fear in voters because he doesn’t have a plan that focuses on the needs of the American people in this election. $20 million in that ad on an issue that’s tied to the biggest issues affecting the American people, It’s far-fetched. And again, his politics were no different.
- In ways he’s different from Biden
“I represent a new generation of leadership. I, for one, am someone who hasn’t spent most of my career in Washington. I invite ideas, whether it’s from the Republicans who support me, whether it’s from those who were on stage with me a few minutes ago, and the business sector, and input into the decisions that I make. with others who can.”
- About Trump’s speech to the voters
“He who speaks of an enemy within himself, inside, an enemy within, talking about the American people. Suggesting that he would turn the American military against the American people. You and I both know that he has talked about turning the American military against the American people. He talked about going after people who are engaged in peaceful protest. He has talked about locking people up because they don’t agree with him. This is a democracy, and in a democracy, the president of the United States, in the United States of America, should be prepared to be able to handle criticism without saying he’s going to block people for doing so.”
- Whether or not Trump is fit to be president
“For the last decade, it’s been clear to me and certainly to the Republicans on the table with me, the president’s former chief of staff, Donald Trump, the former secretary of defense, his national security advisers and his vice president, one, he’s unfit to serve, he’s unstable, he’s dangerous. And people are tired of someone who claims to be a leader, who spends his time diving and diving into personal grievances and about himself and Americans.”
