Governor of California. Gavin Newsom tried to use President Biden as a shield when a distraught wildfire victim confronted him Thursday, but his efforts kind of blew up in his face.
A woman, called a lawyer Rachel Darwishran up to Newsom as he was getting into his car leaving the devastated Pacific Palace and started asking him questions about everything that went wrong with the firemen… and Sky News A group of cameras captured the intense clash.
Darvish demanded answers about why there was no water pressure in the fire hydrants to help firefighters put out the fire.Newsom quickly responded by picking up the phone and telling him he was talking to President Biden right now about getting help for the victims.
Perhaps he thought he would back off when he said that, but it only made him want more answers, and in fact he asked to speak to Biden. Newsom finally had to admit. “Sorry, I’ve tried 5 times, that’s why I’m walking around to call.”
Newsom speculated that he couldn’t get a signal, but Darvish pinned him down, saying… “Why isn’t the president taking your call?”
Watch their exchange … it only got more awkward after that.
Darwish has been highly critical of Governor Newsom and the mayor of Los Angeles Karen Bass … accusing both of being caught flat-footed and not preparing for the worst ahead of this week’s Hurricane Santa Ana winds that fueled the fire.

He told Fox News. “There must have been some premeditation. people were getting out of their cars to escape the fires.”
It’s also understood that he wasn’t buying Newsom’s insistence that he call President Biden on the phone, and he continued to ask him questions about nearby dripping water … assuming that would make a difference as the fire raged.
