“The Golden Bachelor” star Gerry TurnerAn incurable cancer diagnosis has shocked fans, but she isn’t letting it slow her down. he’s moving on with life as usual, TMZ has learned.
Gerry tells TMZ that despite her bone marrow cancer, which is called Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia, she hasn’t missed a beat. he still plays pickleball 3 times a week for 3 hours and walks around a nearby 3 mile lake twice a week.
Geri says that while doctors have advised her to cut down on alcohol and sugar, she feels more adventurous and open to new experiences… adding optimistically,
For now, Geri remains positive and active because it’s all she can do, especially since there is no cure for her cancer until she starts showing symptoms like headaches, dizziness, night sweats and unusual bleeding.
He tells us that he has not experienced any of these symptoms yet, so there is no need for therapy at this time. However, he is maintaining his health with a battery of blood tests every 6 months.
As previously mentioned, the type of cancer Gerry has is not curable…but he elaborates on that by saying that people can live up to 9 years without treatment, although it’s unclear exactly where he stands in that 9 year window , he assures us, it’s still too early.
At the end of the day, Gerry says he didn’t ask doctors for life expectancy predictions because he didn’t want to know.
Instead, she’s focused on using her platform to make a difference and plans to reach out to International Waldenström Macroglobulinemia Foundationbelieving that its public visibility could help raise awareness, fundraise and spread the word about the condition.
It’s certainly a positive spin for Gerry, who explains her cancer diagnosis played a major role in her breakup from Teresa Session after only 3 months of marriage, after their meeting on The Golden Bachelor.
