Attorneys for two former Georgia election workers are asking a New York judge to impose “serious” penalties. Rudy Giuliani Because the former mayor of New York for “intentional deception” and the judges’ orders are called “remarkable reflection”.
“Severe discovery sanctions are warranted given Mr. Giuliani’s willful violation of various orders of this Court, his history of refusing to participate in discovery, as well as the potential penalties, and his disregard for the inevitable consequence of his conduct,” they said. Written by Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss on Thursday.
A federal jury last year ordered Giuliani to pay Freeman and Moss almost 150 million dollars A mother and daughter have been sued for defamation with false accusations of election fraud while votes were being counted in Fulton County, Georgia on Election Day 2020.
And Giuliani meanwhile already delivered several watches, a ring and his Mercedes-Benz as part of the judgment, the parties remain at loggerheads over the disposition of his Palm Beach apartment and other assets.
Attorneys for the two women argued in Thursday’s filing that Giuliani’s failure to turn over important documents merits “such punishment as the judge deems appropriate.”
“As recently as this week, Mr. Giuliani has refused to provide the whistleblowers with even a list of the email addresses and social media handles he uses to communicate,” he wrote. “This pattern of non-compliance warrants penalties.”
Giuliani will be removed on December 27th in this matter. A trial is set to begin on January 16 to determine the disposition of Giuliani’s Florida condominium.
The New York asset-gathering lawsuit is just one of the legal challenges facing Giuliani.
In a defamation case filed by Freeman and Moss in Washington, DC, Giuliani told the judge overseeing the case that he could not find a lawyer to represent him because several of the lawyers he has tried to hire see Howell as “nonsensical and biased.”
“I have spoken with four attorneys and each attorney has declined to handle this matter because they believe your honor is unreasonable and biased on Trump-related matters and is ‘ideological rather than logical,'” Giuliani wrote.
Judge Howell dismissed the letter because Giuliani did not sign it.
Giuliani said in the letter that if he could not find a lawyer, he would represent himself.
