Four jockeys have been handed 10-day bans following the opening apprentice handicap at Lingfield on Tuesday, won by Certain Style.
In-style jockey Tyrese Cameron sent his Laura Mongan-trained mount into an early lead that grew bigger and bigger until the pair were halved by 30 lengths.
Kyle McHugh on Gold Aura, Mason Paitel on Upepo, Warren Fentiman on Shaad and Chloe Lyons on Grand Duchess Olga all made very late efforts to see the 22nd birthday winner in sight of the stewards.
How the race went…
Former jockey Fergus Sweeney was among the officials on duty at Lingfield and told Sky Sports Racing“We found the four jockeys guilty of failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures, so they all got 10 days.
“In layman’s terms, they went into a misjudged race and we went to the entry point because they’re all inexperienced riders.”
For Cameron, it was a case of Christmas coming early.
He said: “He jumped well but there was only one front runner and I didn’t really give them time to go fast and when I got to the front he was in a great rhythm.
“He was energetic and free last time, so I just wanted him to go at his own pace.
“I didn’t want to wrestle him and I just wanted to keep him happy.
“As he turned, I looked a little, and there seemed to be nothing coming, and he continued at the same speed; he remained that way all day.”
