ABC News: Making us more is the President of the International Refugee and the former official director of the USAID Covid-19, Jeremy Konyndy. Thank you for your time, sir. You were the director of the US foreign disaster support office (Barack) Obama. The former employee of USAID told them how ABC News will die. Do many of usa call you “to take enemies”?
Konyndy: I think that’s exactly that it is a definite way. USAID Every day saves people around the world in the name of the American people, whether it is in disaster areas, expanding earthquakes after the earthquakes. Fighting FoyDing right now in Sudan, offering urgent medical attention. And it is a ceasefire of Gaza and also long-term work through the global health office. Things have 20 million people with antiretroviral drugs with HIVs to delete the infection so that they can live their lives. These are the critical things that do the world around the world. All of them are badly mixed. All of them are now in danger.
ABC News: If you could get a message to Elon Musk to Elon Musk tonight. What would you say?
Konyndy: I would say: Look at the stereotypes and scare you over the caricatures that speak to people who are and actually work. I worked in this former agency. Some of the images viewing on the disaster relief screen, they are truly LED and these kinds of things I supervised. All this is offline right now. Because people (there), because they are professionals, they care deeply about the mission. Fairfax County search and rescue – these are people who go out after the earthquake and people who save life. Therefore, the USAID personnel do what they do. Therefore, they are there. Are. They want to do jobs. They want to accept it. It’s really naughty and truly worrying to see a kind of misinformation, now see this kind of misinformation on this agency. He does not know and has the similarity of the reality I have experienced myself.
ABC News: For now we could be here if you listed all the important USAID work around the world: 25 million lives have been saved from HIV, beating the Ebola, expanding the literacy of children. What do you listen to the work-made work with the help of others, with our government support, with the work of life?
Konyndy: Well, they feel that they feel abuse. They feel betrayal. There are employees deployed in humanitarian disasters around the world, on behalf of the U.S. government, without preamble – without warning and no communication. Government computer systems. They don’t know if they are governmental staff. They are in the zones of disaster and crisis areas, be sure whether they continue under the protection of the embassy. It is incredibly dangerous and is incredibly contemptible for people who have gone to dangerous places to serve their country.
ABC News: You can talk about Soft Power America via USAID.
Konyyndy: You saved 25 million lives to HIV. That’s a tremendous benefit to the world. George Bush is a huge heritage of administration, which launched this program called Pepfar program: the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS relief. But for democracy programs, so that Ukraine helps in the war, to move their economy to move forward to the agricultural sector, giving relief of disasters to communities bombarded Russian invasions. It is to help people who have been trafficked, people who are forced to human trafficking. It is human rights work to support human rights advocates, to help democracy activists. You know, it is a game of all that is relief of health and disaster, towards long-term economic development. It is a very critical way to show that the US is just in the world, some of our geopolitical enemies. So it is one of the things I am very worried about the vacuum left by the United States enemies, if it comes from the usad area. Last night, Dmitri Medvedev, former Russian president, was still very close (today’s Russian President Vladimir) Putin, cheering on Elon Musk on (X.com) for taking down USAID. Some of the members of American politicians and especially silent conference members must ask themselves: Why does Dmitry Medvedev think that if the USAID is a good thing for Russia?
ABC News: What is the answer?
Konyndy: Knows that USAIDE makes American values around the world show a good face – a positive face of America’s generosity, support and solidarity countries around the world. This is very difficult to compete in Russia. That’s very difficult to compete in China. And the US removes one of the leading strategic advantages in our foreign politics, if we translate positive solidarity and support given by USAID in so many countries.
ABC News: Why do you think Trump Administration specifically focus on USAID, a budget of $ 50 Billion? After all, it is a small part of the General Government expenses.
Konyyndy: Well, it’s not money saving. The USAID budget is less than 1% of the federal budget. That is, a round error about the size of our deficit. Trump passed within his first period is much lower than tax cuts. I think what it is, it’s a soft target. Too much people are not allowed for foreign support. It’s an easy thing to be caricature and demonized. You know, which is running here by a private citizen who perceives the President’s cover and can destroy an independent federal agency without any problems in Congress, without any problems Law restrictions. That’s really a really dangerous playbook. I think they are supposed to escape with USAID that this model can export elsewhere.
ABC News: I understand that International refugee receives money directly from usaid, but if the financing persistence follows, is it possible to pick up the slack of organizations like yours?
Konyndy: Well, if I think this is advancing this, it’s really a level of extinction for a sector of the United States sector – and a large part of the relief and development sector around the world. The US is the largest single-development donor, the largest humanitarian donor. And if that disappears, it is not that others can fill that gap. But it will also divert the budgets of many attractive support and organizations from the world.
ABC News: Jeremy Konyndy, thank you for your time.
Konyyndy: Thank you.
