A former child actor is among the victims of the massive Los Angeles wildfires … his mother said she couldn’t save him in time.
Rory Callum Sykes – who starred in the ’90s British show Kiddy Kapers, was killed at his family’s Malibu home on Wednesday, his mother, Shelley Sykes– announced in an exciting post on social networks.
The British-born Australian actor, who was born blind with cerebral palsy, had his own cottage on the family’s 17-acre Mount Malibu television studio grounds, which was destroyed in the fire, according to his mother.
Shelly says she tried to put out the cylinders on her roof with a chain, but couldn’t because the water was off. “50 brave firefighters had no water all day.”

“He said, ‘Mom, leave me,’ and no mother could leave their child. I couldn’t lift her, I couldn’t move her,” Shelley told Australian local newspaper 10 News. “When the firemen brought me back, his cabin was completely burnt down.”
As of Saturday morning, there have been 11 confirmed deaths in all Los Angeles fires, with more than 100,000 evacuation orders in place … with that list growing overnight to Brentwood and Encino as the fire spreads eastward into the Palisades.
Rory was 32 years old.
