Flavor: FlavIt’s all about fighting the authorities, going up against NBC security… but it looks like they were just doing their job because we’re told they weren’t expecting him at the tree lighting and security helped him out.
Here’s the deal… Flav went to X to air some grievances NBC is firing him From the Backstreet Boys’ dressing room at Rockefeller Center’s tree-lighting ceremony Wednesday night, despite all the work he’s done with them during the Olympics.
However, sources tell TMZ security had a very good reason to remove him from the event… “because he wasn’t on the list of expected attendees.
We’re told Flav was at a party not affiliated with NBC nearby when he stopped by the Manhattan Tree Lighting.
Our sources say security around the site has been beefed up as Brian Thompson, CEO of UnitedHealthcare, has been; was shot about six blocks away from where the tree lighting took place… so they closed off most of the area to protect the tree lighting guests.

Despite this heightened security, it appears that Flav somehow slipped past several layers of security into the talent zone; he’s a charming guy so it’s not shocking at all.
It was at this point that security realized he shouldn’t be there and, despite his celebrity status, they quickly asked him to leave.
Our sources at NBC tell us they’re big fans of Flavor Flav … and they’d love to have him attend next year’s tree lighting ceremony.
Posted something last night and quickly deleted it,,, I was embarrassed by some of the language and the actions of the security people throwing their weight around. It was poorly handled and I didn’t realize how many people would care. Thank you all for the love. and this… pic.twitter.com/a3ROGmvGDH

@FlavorFlav:
Notably… Flav backtracked on his comments today, placing the blame on the security guards who kicked him out, rather than the network itself.
We’ve reached out to Flav about this new info…no word back yet.
