For all the Fantasy Premier League managers out there looking to fix the season given their early struggles, your luck may be about to change.
FPL has confirmed that the new chip will be available to players in 2025, and rest assured there will be some help on the way if you were just about to ditch the app for good.
There are currently three “chips” available to anyone playing the game, which include a free hit of unlimited passes that resets after a week, a token to completely fix your team for the future, and a bench that allows you to get points from players in the starting 11 to count towards the weekly total.
Now, if your season has really been THIS bad, you’ve probably used them all up in a desperate attempt to break the 50-point barrier for the first time, but you can take some solace in the fact that professional help is on the way;
Prior to the start of the 2024/25 season, it was confirmed that the ‘mystery chip’ would be introduced mid-season and details of this addition have now been confirmed.
Players will now be given an Assistant Manager, allowing them to choose one of 20 Premier League managers to help them earn points.
A statement released by Fantasy Premier League confirms the full details of the new aspect of the game, saying:
“The chip will be available from Gameweek 24 in January and can be played at any time thereafter in 2024/25.
“When you activate the chip and select your assistant manager, you will earn points for their club’s results for three games in a row.
“Once the chip is activated, your Assistant Manager selection will not cost a ‘free transfer.'” But if you wish to change your manager within these three games, it will cost the same as the players.
“Remember you can only play one chip per Gameweek. So if you activate an Assistant Manager chip on Gameweek 24, you won’t be able to use another chip until Gameweek 27.
“If a manager leaves his club, Fantasy managers who own or bring in that assistant manager will still score based on the performance of the original club.”
