Everton v Liverpool postponed after Storm Darrah weather warnings, but when could the Merseyside derby be replayed?
The Merseyside derby, the last to be played at Goodison Park, was called off on Saturday morning as rain and strong winds hit the UK and the area is under an amber weather alert.
And as everything is Saturday night football game between Manchester United and: Nottingham Forest is moving forward. Manchester United said they would continue to consult with the authorities live before 5.30pm Sky Sports.
Merseyside Police advised against non-essential travel in the region on Saturday with an amber weather warning in place.
“We apologize for the inconvenience and thank supporters for their understanding. While we appreciate this will be deeply disappointing for fans, the safety of fans, staff and players is paramount.
“All tickets purchased for the original match will remain valid for the rescheduled match.”
“Liverpool” statement says: “We appreciate that this will be deeply disappointing for fans, but the safety of fans, staff and players is paramount.”
When could the Merseyside derby be rescheduled?
The new date for Everton v Liverpool is likely to depend on whether Arne Slott’s side finish in the top eight of the Champions League, currently top of the new 36-club table.
This would guarantee them a place in the round of 16, meaning they would skip the knockout stages on February 11/12 and February 18/19, 2025.
It would mean the game could be played in midweek slots ahead of Liverpool’s return to European competition, with the round of 16 kicking off on March 4/5 and March 11/12, 2025.
If the Reds do not finish in the top eight, it further tightens the deadline, as well as their promotion to the latter stages of the Champions League.
Another possible option could be the week of April 21, which will be between the Champions League quarter-final second leg and the semi-final first leg.
