Movies that need to be remembered in pre -pre -pre -inspiration.

A few months ago my family mocked me because I couldn’t stop watching Western wing. I will say that by the eighth season, even my husband was around, trying to remember who won this final presidential election. Was Alan Ald or Jimmy Smiths? (There are no spoilers here!) Mostly we couldn’t believe how big the Aaron Sorkin series was. I highly recommend this as the therapy where we are now. One of his stars, Bradley Whitford, who is now acting on the Distopy Tale of the maidHe recently joked: “I’m afraid my career reflects the beginning and end of democracy.”
To review these 155 episodes made me think about what we should seek to become again. Since all these days comes down to the list, the following artistic efforts should be observed to remember the Truman times. Here goes.
Politicians rise (either down)
Tempting Joe Tina: In this 1979 film, Alan Aldo (with the support of the new actress nicknamed Maryl), a senator who ultimately stands for the racist nomination of the Supreme Court, risking everyone. Aldo also wrote it.
Be there: In this adaptation of the book by Jerzie Kosinka, Peter sellers are playing Channel Gordiner, Simpleton, who somehow acts as a demanded political expedition and much more. It depends on television (“I like to watch”, there are several meanings) and uses a language that somehow amazes a chord with uncertain politicians. (“Until the roots are torn, all is well.” “In the garden growth has its seasons.”)
Mr. Smith goes to Washington: Jimmy Stewart takes off in this classics of 1936 about the recently appointed senator, which is expected to handle the highest. After all, it is 25 hours in favor of the country. The coil is not quite real – joy, but it works. Stevart This is a wonderful life It’s also more than just a holiday view. In the end, his citizen from the small city eventually overwhelms the rich man who believes he is the king.
American president: Michael Douglas rises in a great movie by Rob Reiner – written by Aaron Sorkin, in which the main executive director ultimately adheres to the contradictory reason and confronts the opposition – he learned that he does not need to buy his girl’s flowers (“It turns out, I have a pink garden!”).
Western wing: Probably the best series if -no. (Martin Shin graduated from Chief of Staff in American president to the President of Jed Bartlet). And what an acting composition that deals with every question that can be imagined. Still in time? One episode is called “gas” and the other is engaged in immigration. It holds on.
Candidate: This movie 1972 is one of the best Robert Redford. Who can forget it because a beautiful guy from the backup suddenly asked to run for the Senate. “What are we doing now?” is one of the most famous recent lines, especially from the winner.
The best man: In this drama, in 1964, Henry Foundation was presented in the presidential race against the cliff Robertson. Script from Gore Vidal. Both candidates are one considered principled, one ruthless – called for important approval.
Journalists are like heroes
All the president’s men: We most likely saw Redford and Hoffman as Woodward and Bernstein, as well as Jason Robard in the role of Ben Bradley (“Run This Baby!”) Breaking the biggest story of the time (and sending every young writer to the school of journalism). Less classic but lighting of the same period is MessageThe first of all follows in terms of Washington publisher Catharin Graham. Maryl -tit and Tom Hanks, not surprisingly, great. Third proposal: a new documentary about Graham.

Good night and good luck: George Clooney 2005 about Edward R. Morow, who accepts Joe McCarty. If, if, either the press force was put on the card, it was during the black list. (PS is now hit -hit on Broadway, with the participation of the club in the scene’s debut.)
Frost/Nixon: The deceased British interview is probably better remembered by his television conversations with a former scandal impregnated with the US president. In the 2008 film, Michael Shin starred in the role of Frost and Frank Langela as Nixon. Directed by Ron Hovard and based on Peter Morgan’s performance, the film leads us to the scenes when two opponents are preparing.
The ones that made us laugh – and think
Dave: In this 1993 film, written by Gary Ross, and director Ivan Reitman, Kevin Klain will play as a presidential appearance that asked for a major time. (If only.) Sigurn Weaver is the first lady, and it’s all good. The theatrical version works in works.
Wag dog: Often the most referred movie that seemed too real for comfort. So far it was not. The director was directed by Bari Levinson in 1997, and starred with Dastin Hoffman and Robert Denir. The plot goes on the spin’s doctors and the Hollywood producer when they produce war to cover presidential sex scandal. Hmm …
Home Page: One of the classics, from the Broadway show to the 1974 movie with Jack Lemmon and Walter Mattau. It’s about urban politics: Chicago. For some reason, we laugh when there are punishment for death and other dark objects. After all, justice, love and witty banter prevail.
Charlie Wilson’s war: Another plug for Aaron Sorkin. This movie in 2007 was a fun, based on the truth about a congressman who cares little about everything that has no substance … until it does it. Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts are wonderful.
Before they were suckers and losing
Obviously, there were countless films about those who gave their lives to save democracy. A few we offer:
Born Fourth July: Probably the best performance of Tom Cruz. In this film in 1989, directed by Oliver Stone, Cruz will play Ron Kovik, who served and almost died in Vietnam and later became an important anti-war voice.
DA five blood: This movie was characteristic for several reasons in 2020. He made his spike; It discusses four former Black Vietnam veterinarians returning to this country; And it was the final performance of Chadwick Boseman. Netflix has made an important contribution with that.
Arrival of houses: Jane Foundation certainly deserves rewards for making many films that caught political moments from China’s syndrome by 9 to 5. Perhaps the most memorable was this one released in 1978, which received it and John Voit Oscar. The story, of course, is that he is returning to Vietnam -veter, constantly disabled … But not too much to prevent his conversations with others about war costs.
Emily’s Americanization: This beautiful, sadly forgotten film of 1964 starred James Garner as a proud anti -war coward, and Julie Andrews as a World War II driver. The film, written by the Great Paddy Tea, was a favorite harner of all his works.
Face in the crowd: Classics since 1957, which starred Andy Griffith and Patricia Nile. It is about false, allegedly advocating people through radio, and then television, and which further launches powers. Until he sent him a television producer. (Who has a hot microphone?) Good news: it was adapted to the stage, with Elvis Castel’s music.
Our reward for the actor who most started politicians: Melvin Douglas. He played in the memorable in Candidate. Be there. Emily’s Americanizationand Joe tina. “He played a politician better than I did,” admitted his wife Helen Gagagan Douglas, a great congressional woman, removed by Richard Nixon in his sadly famous race in the 1950 Senate. Keep track of the setting her History.
Chaos and the cruelty of the Trump administration reach new lows each week.
Trump’s catastrophic “Liberation Day” was inflicted by the world economy and created another constitutional crisis at home. Civilian officers continue to abduct the university students from the streets. The so-called “opponents” fly abroad in a mega-tour against the ruling of the courts. And SignalGate promises to become the first of many incompetence scandals that expose violent violence at the heart of the American Empire.
At a time when elite universities, powerful law firms and influential media are Trump intimidation, the nation is more determined than if -earlier to take into account the powerful account.
In the last month, we have published a report on how Trump raises his mass deportation program to other countries, exposed the administration’s appeal to the laws to comply with his repressive agenda, and strengthened the votes of brave activists aimed at universities.
We also continue to tell the stories of those who retreat against Trump and Musk, whether on the streets in the growth of protest movements, in the town halls across the country or in critical state elections – for example, a recent Wisconsin Supreme Court race – which gives a model of confrontation and prove that Musk cannot acquire our democracy.
