My children are not healthy for you. Chocolate chip cookie But I am always ready to try new recipes. The classic Snickerdoodle was next on my list. This version uses maple syrup instead of brown sugar and almond and coconut flour instead of wheat. It’s a great easy snickerdoodle recipe for the holidays (or any day of the week!).
I chose coconut oil to make them dairy-free but feel free to use butter for a more buttery flavor. They just might be your new favorite cookie.
The best snickerdoodle recipe
I don’t like to call things “best” because there can be many fine differences. But, when it comes to cookies, thick and chewy is a must. Snickerdoodles are similar to sugar cookies but contain cinnamon for a little added spice. They also use cream of tartar, which gives them a distinctive character. They make great Christmas cookies, but the kids also love them as an afternoon snack.
These snickerdoodles don’t spread while baking and you can make them as thick or thin as you like. Thinner cookies will be more crumbly or a softer Snickerdoodle will make them thicker. I flattened them with the palm of my hand before baking. This creates a small dome in the center which is soft and yet has crisp edges. Perfect combination!
Allergy Friendly Snickerdoodles
I already mentioned that these are gluten-free, dairy-free and grain-free. And they are. Naturally sweet With maple syrup and coconut sugar. Plus, if you’re egg-free, they’ll skip the eggs too. They are chewy and not cakey without the addition of large eggs, but they still hold up well. Be sure to let the cookies cool before transferring them from the cookie sheet to a wire rack, though, or they may fall apart.
Try them in a homemade glass Macadamia Nut Milk For the ultimate cookie experience!
