Chelsea want to sign Crystal Palace and England centre-back Mark Guehi.
The west London club are looking for a replacement for Wesley Fofana, who Enzo Maresca confirmed could miss the rest of the season with a serious hamstring injury.
Newcastle made several attempts to sign Guehi last summer but failed to agree a fee with Palace.
The 24-year-old began his career at Chelsea’s Cobham academy before joining Palace in the summer of 2021 in an £18million deal.
Another option being considered by Chelsea is to recall Trevo Chalobah on loan at Palace.
