Josh Altman He predicts that at least half of the people who lose their homes in Pacific Palaces won’t rebuild there… but they won’t go far.
We caught up with the famous realtor on Robertson Avenue in Beverly Hills, and our photo asked him what kind of vibe he’s getting from displaced Angelenos whose homes were burned to the ground in the Palisades Fire.
Josh says it’s becoming clear to him that 50% of families never return to the Palisades…many people want to start in the nearby Brentwood, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and Bel Air areas.
As Josh explains, Palisades was an American picturesque town with lots of families with kids…and he just doesn’t see these people moving back for a few years, especially after their kids settle into new schools.
Josh says he’s already negotiating dozens of deals in the Palisades, where his clients are selling their land to developers who will build new homes for new families.
The rebuilding process will take years, but there’s another problem with moving back… what if you’re the first family back in the neighborhood and you’re surrounded by construction.
Josh says insurance costs are another issue altogether, giving families pause about returning to the Palisades.
He says the tragedy has made some people weary of Los Angeles and California … and he’s hearing of people looking to move out of state or down to Newport Beach and Orange County.
