Forest fires are raging thousands of hectares In Los Angeles County, California, strong winds from Santa Ana fueled fires.
The Palisades fire has affected more than 20,400 acres and the Eaton fire has affected more than 13,600 acres.
The Hurst Fire was reduced from 800 acres to less than 700 on Thursday.
The Eaton fire is 3% contained, with the Palisades fire at 8% as of Thursday night. The Hurst fire is now 37% contained.
The Woodley and Sunset fires were 100% contained Thursday.
At the same time, the Lidia Fires quickly grew from 80 acres to more than 300 by late Wednesday. It was 60 percent contained Thursday, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
Evacuation alerts
CalFire evacuation orders were issued for areas surrounding the Palisades, Eaton and Hurst fires.
Evacuation orders for Pacific Palisades, Topanga and eastern Malibu extend to Carbon Beach Terrace west of the fire. To the east and southeast, evacuation orders cover the Riviera, Rustic Canyon and Wilshire Montana counties up to San Vincente Boulevard.
Evacuation orders from the Eaton Fire extended across Altadena, La Cañada Flintridge and large parts of Pasadena and Glendale.
Evacuation orders for the Hollywood Hills surrounding the Sunset Fire came late Wednesday, affecting some of Hollywood’s most iconic locations, including the Dolby Theater, where the Oscars are held, and the Hollywood Bowl. However, residents were told they could return by Thursday.
Evacuation orders from the Hurst Fire included the Los Angeles suburbs of Sylmar, Whitney Canyon Park and Elsmere Canyon.

Power outages
Nearly 1.2 million customers were without power in California as of midday Wednesday, according to Poweroutage.us. By Thursday morning, that number was reported to be closer to 390,000.
Of that number, Los Angeles County represented 177,212 of the customers facing outages.

Smoke and air quality
In Southern California, residents are experiencing air quality conditions that are considered hazardous by the US Air Quality Index according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
From Los Angeles to Pasadena, near the Eaton fire, air sensors are picking up “hazardous” to “very unhealthy” conditions. Hazardous air conditions have also been recorded in Santa Monica. Other nearby areas – Long Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance and other parts of the Los Angeles region – have also been rated as “healthy”.
