Another gust of wind will hit southern California on Wednesday, where a red warning for “Extremely Hazardous Conditions” remains until 3 p.m. for the west. Los Angeles County and most of Ventura County.
Wednesday morning and afternoon, winds will be strongest west and north of Los Angeles, mostly in the mountains and high canyons, where gusts can reach 50 mph-70 mph.
In addition to gusts of wind, the relative humidity will be very low, up to 8%.
Weather conditions are expected to create the perfect setup for explosive fire growth if a new fire breaks out.
But the wind should begin to relax later Wednesday and humidity is expected to increase by Thursday and there’s also a chance for a few sprinkles for southern California.
Stronger Santa Ana winds are forecast for Wednesday through Saturday next week, with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration giving a 40% to 60% chance.
Due to La Nina conditions in the Pacific Ocean, the jet stream is tilted to the north and all the rain storms are moving away from southern California.
Forecasts for the next three months show drier than normal conditions near southern California.
