Sky Sports has won three awards at the 2024 Broadcast Sport Awards, with Real Talk named podcast of the year.
The six-episode series, presented by Miriam Walker-Khan, explored topics of health and well-being experienced by athletes in various sporting worlds.
Sky Sports also claimed the Broadcast Sport TV Moment of the Year award for its coverage of teenage sensation Luke Littler, becoming the youngest World Darts Championship finalist.
The award for best visual storytelling using data and insight went to Sky Sports F1 for its Ghost Car feature, which was used to compare the performance of different drivers.
The Real Talk podcast, which aired in March and April, covered less-discussed sports topics such as obsessive-compulsive disorder, pelvic floor health, motherhood and retirement.
Littler stunned the sporting world by reaching the final at Alexandra Palace earlier in the year aged just 16, with his crushing semi-final victory over former champion Rob Cross a historic moment.
He would lose to Luke Humphreys in a brilliant final, but his run to the final would go down in folklore and attract a huge new audience to the sport.
Sky Sports F1 has long used side-by-side videos of competitors’ qualifying sessions to analyze where time is being spent, but was able to improve the viewer experience in 2024 by using a ghost car feature.
Without the need for split-screen, the ghost car allowed viewers to see the pole position battles unfold in remarkable detail.
Sky Sports F1 Karun Chandhok said: “The fantastic team at Sky are pushing us to innovate and do new things and use the studio in creative ways. It’s a great recognition for the whole team.”
Other winners on the night included Michael Johnson and Gabby Logan, who were named pundit of the year and presenter of the year respectively for their work at the BBC. Coverage of the FA Women’s Cup final was named Sports Production of the Year by the BBC.
Sky Sports+ has officially launched and will be integrated into it Sky TVstreaming service NOW! and: The Sky Sports appthis year giving Sky Sports customers access to over 50 per cent more live sport at no extra cost. Learn more here.
