Berlin will host an NFL regular season game for the first time in 2025 as part of the league’s continued global growth and expansion.
The game will be played at the Olympiastadion, home of Hertha Berlin and host of the 2006 World Cup and 2024 European Championship finals, as part of a multi-year commitment to host games in the German capital.
The NFL has played regular season games in Munich and Frankfurt since 2022, and the game in Berlin will be the fifth regular season game played in Germany.
“Germany has a rich American football tradition, and the NFL has a deep history with the city of Berlin,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
“We first played a pre-season game at the Olympic Stadium 34 years ago, before it was home to NFL Europe’s Berlin Thunder in the early 2000s.
“Now with nearly 20 million NFL fans in Germany, we will make a historic return to the city, playing a regular season game for the first time, as we open the next chapter in our relationship with Berlin.”

Iris Spranger, Berlin’s senator for interior affairs and sports, added: “This long-term partnership with the NFL will continue to promote Berlin as a global sports metropolis, as well as excite fans at the Olympic Stadium.”
“The 2025 NFL Berlin game means global visibility, many international guests, increased tourism and high economic value throughout the city.
“We look forward to an incredible game and a continued successful partnership with the league as we continue to strengthen American Soccer’s presence in the state.”
Munich’s Allianz Arena has hosted two NFL International Series games, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeating the Seattle Seahawks in 2022 and In 2024, the Carolina Panthers beat the New York Giants 20-17..
Frankfurt also hosted two games, with the Kansas City Chiefs defeating the Miami Dolphins and the Indianapolis Colts defeating the New England Patriots in November 2023.
When is the 2025 Super Bowl?
The 2025 Super Bowl will take place at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9. Live on Sky Sports.
This will be the 11th Super Bowl in New Orleans, most recently in 2013.
Rapper Kendrick Lamar will headline the Super Bowl LIX halftime show.
