The Pivot Podcast:
Barack Obama says her daughters are trying to pave their way to success without using their famous last name, especially Maliawho went so far as to change his rating in his directorial debut.
The 44th president sat down with the hosts Fred Taylor and: Ryan Clarke on The Pivot podcast for a wide-ranging interview in which Barack reflected on how his daughters Sasha and Malia is dealing with such a popular surname.
Clarke was the first to bring up the subject, asking Barack if he and his wife Michellediscussing with their girls about making it themselves.
Barack responded that his daughters are very sensitive to their notoriety, pointing to Malia’s decision to drop “Obama” in the credits of her first film, The Heart, referring to her by her first name, Malia Ann. The short film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January.
Barak said he warned Malia… “I was all saying. “You know they’ll know who you are.”
According to Barak, Malia replied… “I want them to watch it for the first time and not have that association in any way.”
Barack added that his daughters are doing their best not to use Obama’s name to further their careers.
But some people online criticized Malia for removing her last name from the film’s title, prompting “The View” host. Whoopi Goldberg rush to his defense.
In one episode of the show, Whoopi said… “If he knows he’s Obama, why do you think? Why do you care what he calls himself?’
You tell them whoopie!!!
