At least 95 people were killed and more than 100 others were injured 6.8 magnitude earthquake It struck near the holy city in Tibet on Tuesday, according to Chinese state media.
The earthquake occurred in Dingri county, Shigatse city, Tibet, just after 9 am, at a depth of 10 kilometers. China Center for Earthquake Networks.

The US Geological Survey placed the earthquake’s magnitude at 7.1, and pinpointed the epicenter at Xizang, China, the local name for the Tibet Autonomous Region.
“The region near the India-Eurasia plate boundary has a history of large earthquakes,” the USGS said. a summary of the earthquake “In the last century, there have been 10 earthquakes of magnitude 6 and greater within 250 km of January 7, 2025.”

Many houses collapsed near the epicenter, according to reports.
Chinese media also reported that after 10:00 local time, multiple aftershocks were recorded, the largest of which was 4.4.
The death toll was previously 53, with another 60 injured.
