LONDON and ISTANBUL — An early morning fire at a hotel in Turkey’s Kartalkaya ski resort has killed at least 66 people and injured 51 others. TurkeyInterior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on Tuesday.
“We are in great pain,” Yerlikaya told reporters at a news conference. “Unfortunately we lost 66 lives in the fire that broke out in this hotel.”

The fire broke out at 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday at a hotel in the northwestern Turkish resort of Grand Kartal.

A city official told ABC News that after the fire broke out in the middle of the night around 3:27 a.m., most of the victims, including children, appeared to have died of suffocation.
