A recent discovery in Australia’s Cloggs Cave revealed something extraordinary about humans’ relationship with time. Several meters deep in the limestone cave, it was discovered by archaeologists working with the Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation. indicative signs of an ancient ritual: two ceremonial sticks covered in animal fat and very specific burn marks. Here comes the surprising part. The sticks were 12,000 years old, and the local mulla-mullung or sorcerers used them in the 19th century.
