Sima del Elephante, found in Spain the jaw of an ancient hominine and the upper jaw
Maria D. Guillén / iPheth-Cerca.
A part of a Spanish cave is the oldest human face found in the west of Europe. The bones are part of the cheek and upper jaw, and 1.1 million and 1.4 million years old.
Bones are significantly different from the oldest hominan bones in the same area, proposing two different groups of ancient humans around Europe in Western Europe about a million years ago.
