
Sheep skulls modified by the ancient Egyptians, their horns grew upwards instead of outwards

Sheep with deformed horns are among the most mysterious animal remains found in an ancient Egyptian burial site around 3700 BC. They also represent the oldest physical evidence of humans modifying the horns of livestock.
“The sheep were deliberately made ‘special’ by castration,” he says Wim Van Neer Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences. “Also, the horns were pointed upwards, and in one case, the horns were removed.”
