Alec Baldwin is not on trial for the fatal shooting Halina Hutchins anymore, but he’s clearly still upset about being prosecuted over the “Rusty” shooting tragedy … as he’s now suing the prosecutors and investigators involved in his case.
On Thursday, the actor filed a lawsuit in the state of New Mexico, accusing prosecutors and investigators of engaging in malicious prosecution, abuse of process, intentional spoliation of evidence and violations of his civil rights.
Baldwin’s side claims prosecutors were fixated on convicting Baldwin regardless of the merits of the case … and point to the shocking dismissal of the case in July as proof that prosecutors were wrong.
While he is filing this civil suit for damages … his attorneys explain that no verdict in this case can undo the “trauma” caused by the threat of state incarceration.
Baldwin was appointed special prosecutor Kari MorrisseySanta Fe County Prosecutor Mary Carmack-Altwiss and Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office investigators as defendants in the suit.
As you know, back in 2021 on the set of the movie “Rust” Baldwin was holding a gun that went off and exploded. killed the Hutchins — the cinematographer.

Charges were filed against Baldwin earlier this year, however. they were fired with prejudice when it was discovered that prosecutors and investigators had submitted some evidence under a different case number, effectively hiding it from the defense.

The decision has been appealed many times… although the prosecutor’s office gave up the appeal fight in December.
