On February 1, Adam Azim will fight for the first time with former world champion Sergey Lipinets, live. Sky Sports.
Already holding the European title, undefeated super-lightweight Azim has ambitious plans for the rest of 2025 and is open to boxing British rivals such as Harlem Eubank or Dalton Smith later this year if he beats Lippines at Wembley Arena.
“This is my first fight in 2025,” Azim said Sky Sports. “I hope you never know, I might fight Dalton Smith.
“There’s a lot of names out there, you’ve got Dalton Smith, Harlem Eubank.
“Whatever opportunity comes into play,” he continued, “I’ll just do my job.”
Eubank is undefeated but suffered a setback in his last fight in November when he boxed Nurali Erdogan over eight rounds.
Both fighters were awarded points and Eubank was stopped by an eye cut in the seventh round.
Azim, whose 2024 fight with Eubank ultimately fell through, had a warning for him.
“He couldn’t (hold such a box against me) because I would have knocked him out in two rounds,” Azim said.
“A lot of people can have bad days at the office, but he looked really bad.”
Azim last boxed in October, dominating Ohara Davies, and he will look to build on that performance against Lipines.
“I was brutal with the O’Hara Davis fight, but when we get in the ring, that’s what I’m going to do,” he said.
“I’m going to be very destructive. It’s going to be a very clinical and pure master class.”
However, Lipinets will provide the toughest opposition of Azim’s career so far. “It’s the right move,” he said.
“I’m just looking forward to the fight. He’s a good operator. He’s been an IBF world champion, he’s fought the likes of Mikey Garcia, ‘Bots’ (Jaron Ennis, now IBF middleweight) champion: ) as well.
“Boots dismantled him in six rounds and beat him very badly, but overall I think he’s at a high level at world level, so he’s a good operator.”
Azim wants to prove his quality in this fight against Lipinets.
“This is my chance and it’s a great time to show that I’m ready to rise to the level of world champion,” he declared.
“I think I have (everything) to be a world champion and I know for sure when he wants me to fight inside, when he wants to fight from a long distance, I can do it all fight inside I can be long range I can be in the middle range I have all the tools for a boxing class.
“My mindset has always been, when I get in the ring, there’s no distraction, nothing like that. I’m going to put on a great mature, clinical performance.”
