Actor-comedian Paul RodriguezHis best friend died Thursday at his home in the Los Angeles area … and cops say the death appears to be natural and nothing foul at this time.
We spoke to Paul, who tells us about his old friend Donald Serato he had just sold his house in Torrance and was moving to Montana, but he needed a place to stay for a few days before he moved.
The PR gave his friend a place to stay, and – this morning – he left around 6 a.m. to go to work at the movies. He called Serato around noon to see if he wanted to pick up lunch, but he didn’t hear back.
Unable to reach Donald, Paul called his girlfriend, who went to check on him… and found him in bed, covered in bruises.
Paul says Donald’s GF and his friend called 911 and they tried to perform CPR on him with the help of an operator… but he was already dead.
Rodriguez says Serato was a heavy drinker and smoker who was dealing with the loss of several family members … all of which Rodriguez believes may have played a role in his death.
Law enforcement sources confirm … they responded to a call of a man not breathing just after 12:30 a.m. and arrived at Rodriguez’s home a short time later.Serato was pronounced dead at the scene.
We’re told no foul play or drugs are suspected…and it appears to be a natural death.
Paul himself has had a long career in the film industry… appearing in major projects such as Clint Eastwood“Blood Work”, “The Golden Girls”, “The Twilight Zone”, “Sandy Wexler”, “Clifford the Big Red Dog”, “The King of the Hill”, “Grand Slam” and others. he is the father of a famous skateboarder Paul “P-Rod” Rodriguez Jr.
Serato was 50 years old.
