Aberdeen have appointed Scott Booth as the new head coach of their women’s team.
The 52-year-old will join from Scottish Women’s Premier League leaders Glasgow City after the international break.
After spells at Birmingham City and Lewes, Booth returned to City in the summer as assistant to manager Leanne Ross, who has previously won six successive league titles in charge.
Booth, who spent 10 years as a men’s player at Pittodrie, replaces Colin Bell after the former South Korea Women’s boss stepped down in August for “personal reasons”.
Aberdeen are ninth in the SWPL table, one point clear of the bottom three, after just two wins from their opening 10 league games.
“I am happy to return to my old club and take advantage of this exciting opportunity,” he said.
“Having spoken with the director of football and the wider board, I share their vision for the future of the Women’s program and I look forward to playing my part in this project going forward.
“I know there’s a talented group of young players here and I’m looking forward to working with them and a fantastic staff, building on the great work done in recent seasons as we look to challenge ourselves to succeed.”
Glasgow City chief executive Laura Montgomery added that the search for Booth’s replacement has already begun.
