How to Make Cream Blush (Plus Bronzer)

From DIY concealer and highlighter to lip balm to mascara, I’ve been experimenting with homemade makeup for years. i have A blur of powder I like the one that works well, but I’ve gotten requests for a cream blush option. After nailing a Liquid base preparationI also decided to work on the cream formula blush.

You can customize this cream blush to your skin tone for a buildable complexion. If you have warm undertones, then use a little more cocoa powder or warm colors. I’ve included instructions for the amount of paint I used, but you can adjust it to your preferences.

Cream fade

A lot of cream bleaches on the market use ingredients like dimethicone, silica, red 6, and other ingredients that I’m not happy with. While many companies now make non-toxic alternatives, it’s often cheaper to make your own!

Cream blush has more staying power and can be bolder and more versatile than powder blush. A little goes a long way. I use a small amount to darken my natural foundation if I need it during the summer.

Depending on the ingredients used, your blush may have a pale color or a dewy color. Cocoa powder helps the blush cream formula have a warm undertone and the mica adds color and a shimmery sparkle.

Ingredients for the best blush

There are two options for this recipe. One uses a pre-made lotion, and the other is a DIY liquid foundation.

  1. For a lighter version, use natural Premade lotion For the base and add colors and colors as needed.
  2. DIY base takes a little more time and five ingredients, but allows for more customization since you’re making the base lotion yourself.

If you are making your own blur base then you need it Shea butteraloe vera gel and emulsifying wax. Beeswax doesn’t work here because we need an emulsifying wax to mix the water and oil soluble ingredients. The basic ingredients are the same as my liquid foundation recipe.

Aloe vera is hydrating and shea butter is nourishing for dry skin. You can also add a little vitamin E oil for antioxidants and to extend the shelf life. While I love fresh aloe vera, it has a very short shelf life in DIY skin care recipes. Using pre-made and naturally preserved aloe vera gel works best here.

Customize your cream blush color

This DIY starts with cocoa powder or natural mineral makeup for color. Then you can add mica powder for extra coloring. I used a combination of deep berry and bright pink. You can add a little bronze or mauve mica to the mix for a more complex color palette.

Start small and add until you get the color you want. I’ve included the exact amount I used in the recipe below, but you can add more or less depending on your preferences. The more color you add, the stronger and bolder the color becomes.

  • Use 1/4 to 1 teaspoon of cocoa powder and 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of mica powder.
  • Or use 1-2 teaspoons of natural mineral powder in the color of your choice

It’s hard to get powder blur without titanium dioxide. It can be toxic If inhaled as a powder. Once mixed into a foundation or cream, it doesn’t seem to have the same toxicity risk. If you don’t already have a powder blush you like, use the cocoa powder and mica option instead. such as plant-based dyes Ground beetroot Offer a non-greasy product that doesn’t add too much color to the skin.

How to apply

I normally use a blush brush to apply this but you can just as easily use your fingers. You want to dab a little on your cheeks and then massage into your temples in small circles. The correct position depends on the shape and color of your face.

If you have a really dry skin type, you may need to apply a moisturizer or primer to your face first. I find that shea butter gives this cream a good moisturizing feel Above the foundation.

  • If you make the easy version… mix organic lotion and 1-2 teaspoons of mineral powder (or mica powder and cocoa powder) to get the desired color and consistency.

  • For the complete DIY: Melt the shea butter and emulsifying wax in a double boiler until completely melted.

  • Add the aloe a little at a time and cook until fully incorporated and smooth.

  • Turn off the flame and gradually add the colors. Add mica and cocoa powder little by little until the desired color is reached.

  • Dip the tip of the soup into the mixture and let it cool for a few seconds. Test the color and coverage on your cheek or the back of your hand to make sure you find the right tone for your skin tone.

  • Pour the mixture into the desired container and refrigerate.

Instead of mica and cocoa powder, you can use 1-2 teaspoons of whole natural mineral powder. Choose a powder natural mineral blush in the color of your choice.

More tips

  • For the powdered version, see This recipe And look My other homemade makeup recipes here.
  • Adding colors (mica powder and cocoa powder) to the pre-made lotion creates a very soft blush/bronzer. Experiment with the colors until you get the desired shade. It looks darker than the skin when it works.
  • Adding more vegetable wax to the homemade lotion base makes for a thicker and longer lasting tan/bronzer. Using more aloe makes the mixture smoother and more subtle.
  • Adding more pink mica powder gives a shade like a pale rose/pink, while more cocoa powder or bronze mica creates a bronze or more tan blend.
