China’s consumer inflation rate eased in September as producer price deflation deepened, even as Beijing imposed more stimulus measures in a bid to revive strong demand and faltering economic activity.
The consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.4% from a month earlier, compared with a 0.6% rise in August, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed on Sunday, ahead of a 0.6% increase expected in a Reuters poll. economists
The CPI was unchanged month-on-month, below a 0.4% increase and a 0.4% increase in August.
The producer price index (PPI) fell 2.8% year-on-year in September, compared with a 1.8% drop in the previous month and below expectations for a 2.5% drop.
