Our travel starts with extensive research, conforming to people’s experiences in their life into a storyThose who give Life meaning. The idea is that linking our experiences, we can know the belief that our journey (for example, “people” I like “.”
My and my colleagues research focus changes stories about stories, especially life stories. Therefore, compared to others, skilled narrators have meaning in life and we approach their experiences with what we call the “thinking”, the reasons they do. how They do it.
Our hypothesis about the work storytelling is rooted in the nature of stories. Usually, a hero makes an effort to achieve a goal, while landing work or earning someone’s heart, while in front of various obstacles and challenges along the way. People who are excellent in storytelling must develop two key skills. First, they need to connect points throughout the story, meaningfully in creating a coherent narrative. Second, they need to learn to see the world through the eyes of his character, understanding the “why” understanding what people drive. Applying these two skills in their lives, they use skilled security directors that identifies and seeks a sense of life, and the latter encourages the thought that refers to the “Why” first “How”.
To illustrate this point, let’s think about two people: Rachel and Monica. Both had the same career path and both worked in different industries, including sports, medicine and banks. Throughout the career, they often pushed. While Rachel is a skilled storyteller, however, Monica is not, and it is strongly encountered in this respect when they reflect on their careers. Monica is likely to feel lost and clarity of life and purpose, because no thought focused on “how” is more than greater things. Rachel, on the other hand, would be to reflect deeper in his life and will see connections, such as every job, used his management positions in decision-making roles to live in the presence of women. This observation has a sense of goal and gives him a deeper understanding of what he pushes his “why”. But that’s just a hypothetical story. Does life be fucked in real life?
To analyze how it serves the skills for the narrative, we made five studies with about 800 participants. To measure the ability of storytellers in reliably, we took a multi-approach approach. First, we developed and tested a kind of questionnaire, in which we asked people to agree with statements called “My Stories typically my listeners”. Second, we interviewed close friends from the participants around storytelling skills. The third, we invited the trio of strangers to our laboratory and asked them to share stories with each other. Each participant in the laboratory said two different stories: one about a personal characteristics and inserted another three random words that we have provided, a task designed to isolate the basic mechanics of storytelling.
This approach is an important output of previous research stories in life. Here we are working on the ability to practice the compelling narrative of minimal materials. As part of the experiment, each participant valued the ability to tell its own trio, and then the experts of storytellers have just completed a course on video recording of video recording and offered independent evaluations. Thus, we had the skill of storytelling: (1) We made self-reports of their ability, (2) Close friends evaluations, ratings of other trio experiments and (4) in the experiment of stories (4). In addition to these ratings skills skills, we asked participants to have a significant sense of life and when decisions approached, than the thought is like.
We found in all studies and extent, we continually found the ability of storytelling that it is linked to meaning in life and focused “why”. When we tested whether our identity features are driving our findings, it has not been found. That said, the personality added an interesting nuance. People open naturally open to new experiences tend to be better story tellers, for example. This makes sense: such people are more than finding a unique and interesting event that go to great stories. And that gives more opportunities to improve their stories to improve skills while sharing experiences with others.
Also, we also found narrative skills related to meaning in life more than done. In general, Extroverts has a greater sensation of meaning in life, but the storytellers can help compensate the difference in introverts. Storytellers and estroversion are related to expressiveness. Owning to express the social settings in social settings, storytellers are to have a knack to be done through stories. Apparently, one of these trends can be enough to arouse the meaning and purpose.
This work leaves us several lessons learned. First of all, because of the definition, by definition, by definition, seeing great image, our discoveries suggest that the ability to tell stories well and great image is very closely linked. Although the big picture is useful on its own, it can be a crucial advantage that humans are above artificial intelligence, excellent to carry out micro tasks. Thus, facing an uncertain future, it is something we need to raise and practice the ability to tell stories.
The discoveries of my and my colleagues also suggest workshops of storytellers, in recent years that people have been beyond the improvement of communication and conviction. They can strengthen our existence engine and sharpen the sense of direction in life.
There are many benefits to work on a greater goal, and some of them are unexpected. The past research has found that the strong sense of sensation in life has many health benefits, including Longer life. Combined with findings, this suggests that the stories can also help health and reduce mortality. In addition, the storyteller helps connect people, which can naturally spread its social circles. Because powerful Social relationships promotes health And it also affects sustainability, meaning that the story can protect physical health, promoting more deep and wider social bonds.
Maybe moral A thousand and one night All it was correct: storytelling can help save your life.
