Sex may have evolved as a way to pool resources during tough times

Birds do, some bees do this, but how did they evolve sex with sex first? Evolutionary broadcasts suggests that both cells could be a way to make two cells in their resources when the environment becomes hard.

“The idea is when times are hard, you fuse it with another cell,” says George Constable University of York, United Kingdom. “Then you have this big cell with more likely to survive.”
