There is a new application for lasers

Lasers could become a relevant tool for detecting radioactive materials, such as hidden nuclear weapons, greater distance than ever.

Conventional radioactivity sensation techniques were considered a detector waiting for particles created in radioactive decay. Methods can move these particles from tens of meters, but no more. Howard Milchberg Maryland and his colleagues have shown that the laser method can be remotely effective …
