Trump ‘border czar’ says he’s ‘realistic,’ mass deportation plan success depends on Congress

The Trump administration will not be able to remove all undocumented migrants from the United States, and the success of its proposed deportation plan “will depend on what Congress gives us,” the Administration told ABC News’ Tom Homan.

“I’m a realist,” Homan he said in an interview ABC “This Week” co-anchor Martha Raddatz. “We can do what we can do. We will try to be efficient, but with more money, the more we can achieve.”

Immigration and Customs Enforcement does not have enough Congress to hold back the Trump administration, Homan said, so the scope of its enforcement operations depends on the scope of Congressional funding.

“The more money, the better I’ll do,” he said.

Homan said the success comes down to, “Take public safety threats out on the street as much as possible.”

This includes deporting “every illegal rental member in this country, including Tren de Agua,” the Venezuelan cartel added.

“When we see the crime rate on illegal aliens, it’s a success,” he said. “Any public safety threat that is protected from this country is a success. Any national security (threat) that we encounter and remove from the country is a success.”

In an interview on Sunday, Homan said the US government first used military aircraft to repatriate migrants, and now it will be a daily occurrence.

According to US officials, the US military took more than 150 migrants to Guatemala on two separate flights on Thursday.
