Russia ‘very closely’ monitoring Trump’s sanctions threats, Kremlin says

Russia is “very closely following all the rhetoric” from Washington, a Kremlin spokesman said, after the president. Donald Trump threatened to impose new sanctions unless Russia ends its war against Ukraine.

“We don’t see any new elements here,” spokesman Dimitry Peskov said Thursday.

He added: “You know Trump in his first iteration of the presidency was the American president who used punitive methods the most. He likes these methods. At least he liked them in his first presidency.”

The comments came after Trump sent a message on social media to Russian President Donald Trump, calling for a deal to “resolve” Russia’s war in Ukraine.

It’s time to “MAKE THE AGREEMENT”. NO MORE LIVES SHOULD BE LOST!!!” Trump wrote in a new post on social media.

Peskov said on Thursday that financial actions against Russian assets in the West would not go unanswered.

“We are following very closely all the rhetoric, all the statements, we are carefully picking up all the nuances,” he said.
