Rennes are in talks to sign Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi for around £10m.
Sky Sports News understands an offer is on the table and the possibility of Jota returning to Glasgow is also being discussed separately.
Kyogho has been a key player for the Hoops since arriving in Scotland in the summer of 2021 under Ange Postecoglou.
However, his form at Celtic has not always been recognized by Japanese boss Hajime Moriyasu, who has criticized the Scottish Premiership in the past.
Chiogo is believed to welcome the chance to join a club in one of Europe’s top five leagues despite Celtic’s progress to the Champions League knockout stages.
The 30-year-old, who kept three clean sheets against the Young Boys on Wednesday night, has scored 85 times for the Hoops in all competitions.
Sky Sports News Celtic are understood to be ready to bring back winger Jota, who has been frozen out at Rennes following a move from Al Ittihad in the summer. The Hoops are exploring the possibility of a deal for Jota separately.
Jota left Celtic for Al Ittihad in 2023 for a then record fee of £25m.
“If a player doesn’t want to be here, then go”
Brendan Rodgers Admitted last week that he won’t stand in anyone’s way if their heart wants to leave Celtic:
“I think the most important thing is that if a player doesn’t want to be here, then he goes, and that’s when the club has to get the best possible deal. So I don’t see the point of staying for someone who doesn’t want to be here
“But I think it’s all coincidences for us. Whether it’s injuries, whether it’s transfers. You always have to be ready and that’s our message.
“But for him (Kyogo) at the moment he is happy, working well, scoring goals and enjoying his football.
“People are always looking at something. “he didn’t celebrate enough, or he didn’t do this, or he didn’t.”
“I see him every day, I see his intensity. And maybe he doesn’t have to celebrate crazy all the time. But he’s the same guy.
“But there’s always speculation and we’re not afraid of speculation and gossip. So there’s always going to be trivia around him.”
