In one of his first executive orders as president, Donald Trump has begun the process of withdrawing the United States from the World Health Organization (WHO). A year’s notice is required to withdraw from the international public health body, at which point the US will stop funding. The impact can be huge. In recent years, the US has contributed nearly one-fifth of the WHO $6.8 billion budget.
