After being unanimously confirmed by the Senate on Monday night, Secretary of State Marco Rubio was officially sworn in by Vice President JD Vance on Tuesday morning.

Rubio appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America” before the event, where he discussed Trump’s pardons regarding the Jan. 6 riots, TikTok and the Russia-Ukraine war.

Rubio dismissed the apology directly, saying his “focus has to be 100% on our adversaries, our adversaries, our potential enemies around the world to keep this country safe, to make it prosperous.”

Asked about Trump’s Day 1 campaign to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Rubio said the issue is more complex and negotiations would not be held publicly.

“Look, it’s a complex and tragic conflict, started by Vladimir Putin, that has caused tremendous damage to Ukraine and Russia, I would say, but also to the stability of Europe,” Rubio said. “So the only way to solve these things, we have managed to return to pragmatism, but here we also return to seriousness, and that is the hard work of diplomacy. The US has a role to play here. We have supported Ukraine, but this conflict must end.”
