Donald Trump says he probably won’t let TikTok go down without a fight … saying he’s considering a 90-day extension to protect the popular social media app, so influencers can breathe easier.
The president-elect, who will officially ascend to the Oval Office on Monday morning, reportedly spoke with NBC News journalist Kristen Welker … and said last Sunday that he would “likely” extend the app’s service life.

Welker notes that nothing is set in stone … but Trump seems inclined to defend the app and the many content creators who use it, such as GloZell Greenwho told us he was hoping 47 would go up and protect the livelihoods of influencers.
It should be noted… Trump cannot unilaterally protect the application. In order for the president to suspend the ban, several criteria must be met.

For DJT to put the kibosh on Sunday’s ban, there would have to be a way for Bytedance, which is owned by a Chinese company, to relent, with “significant progress” towards making the concession a reality.
There must also be “appropriate binding legal agreements to enable such qualified disposals to be carried out during such extension period”.
It’s complicated legalese, but essentially concrete steps have to be taken for a US company to take over TikTok, and if it doesn’t, President Trump can’t stop it.

Several stars included Jason Derulo are calling BS on the ban … arguing that TikTok is too valuable to just shut down the whole thing.
In just a few hours, we’ll find out if he’s right… although Trump could ultimately make any ban a moot point.
