President-elect Donald Trump said Monday he will take his inauguration indoors due to freezing weather It is expected in Washington
Trump said he will take the oath of office and deliver his inaugural address inside the Capitol Rotunda.
“Various dignitaries and guests will be brought to the Capitol,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “It will be a very beautiful experience for everyone, and especially for the large television audience!”

“On Monday we will open Capital One Arena to watch this historic event LIVE and host the Presidential Parade,” Trump added. “I’ll be joining the crowd at Capital One after I take my oath.”
A spokesman for the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies said the committee is complying with Trump’s request to move the ceremonies indoors.

This opening is expected to be the coldest in 40 years.
A quick storm could bring some snow to DC Sunday afternoon.
When Trump is sworn in at noon on Monday, the temperature will be around 18 or 19 degrees. Due to the wind, the wind chill — what the temperature feels like — will be between 5 and 10 degrees.
“I don’t want to see people hurt or hurt in any way,” Trump said on Truth Social.

President Ronald Reagan’s second inauguration in 1985 was also moved indoors due to weather.
In the morning the temperature dropped to 4 degrees below zero. The temperature was just 7 degrees at noon, making it the coldest January Opening Day on record. Reagan’s parade was also canceled.
