Borussia Dortmund are now looking to sign Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford Sky Germany.
Dortmund have held internal negotiations and have now decided to acquire the England international on loan.
The Bundesliga side walked away from a potential deal earlier this week as Rashford had not been manager Nuri Sahin’s preferred target.
The expected value for the forward, even subsidized, is reportedly estimated to be beyond Dortmund’s means.
That stance now appears to have changed, but AC Milan are also very specific in their interest and are actively trying to secure a deal to sign Rashford.
Rashford’s camp have held talks with a number of European clubs this month to explore terms of a deal.
Manchester United’s preference is believed to be for Rashford to leave on an outright loan if they allow him to leave Old Trafford.
Rashford was once again left out of the squad for Thursday night’s match against Southampton in the Premier League.
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim was asked after last weekend’s FA Cup third round win over Arsenal if Rashford had played his last game for the club.
Amorim said: “I don’t know, we’ll see.”
Rashford prioritized Walker. Why can’t AC Milan sign both?
Rashford is AC Milan’s priority over Manchester City midfielder Kyle Walker in the January transfer window. Sky Italy:.
Pep Guardiola confirmed last weekend that Walker and his representatives were “exploring” his options after telling sporting director Tchiki Begiristain that he wanted to move abroad.
By: Sky Italy:AC Milan have made a bid for the defender in the event that Fikayo Tomori leaves the club, but his move has been blocked by the arrival of new manager Sergio Conceicao.
It remains to be seen whether this time may be different, but Milan can only sign one English player due to current Serie A regulations.
Serie A clubs can register up to three non-EU players and one player from Great Britain or Albania per season if they do not have current EU players in their squad.
If they already have one or two non-EU players, they can bring in a maximum of two more non-EU players.
If they have more than two non-EU players, they can buy two more non-EU players, but one of them must have played for their national team in the previous 12 months.
Milan could only sign two new non-EU players this season due to the places already occupied.
They did so in the summer with Emerson Royale from Tottenham and Strahinja Pavlovic from Red Bull Salzburg. This means Milan only have one extra place for a British (or Albanian) player.
Even if they sell a non-EU player, they still can’t sign another player based in the U.K. That’s one slot per registration period (season).
